Lovin' This Technique!

Image
I saw a card posted by OWH on facebook and thought it was sooo pretty so I followed a link in the comments to a page with the instructions and then I made my own version - in a color I like and with a flower I like. My version - a purple magnolia bloom: The white card base and the purple layer are both generic cardstock that I have had for many years. The image is a wooden block stamp that I got off of eBay. I stamped it in Opaque White StazOn and outlined it with a Copic marker. The band is Grafix Clear Vellum stamped with a Lawn Fawn sentiment. And I added three generic pearl dots.  I really like this technique and will definitely make more cards using it!

Operation Write Home - Starts & Stripes Mid-Week Throwdown - Any Occasion Card - 02-23-2011   Here is my entry for the OWH S&S MWT - I'm still feeling that Pink Mood so again I went for the pink paper. I actually lay out several options and then go through a process of elimination and the pink just seems to be The Last Lady standing! For my any occasion card I made a soft & feminine birthday card. I spent too much time today with other distractions so I kept the card super simple. The pink cardstock is Bazzill textured. The white cardstock is Gina K Layer weight white and is embossed with roses on my CuttleBug. I added a band of pink generic vellum that I edged out with a Martha Stewart punch (love the edge punches where there is a guide to keep me in line!) And the last piece is a Happy Birthday banner stamped on more Gina K cardstock using Lawn Fawn stamps.  Maybe one day soon I will move on from the Pink Mood and go to using some of my other colors! :D

S&S Sketch Challenge #57 for OWH

Image
I'm trying hard to get out of the doldrums brought on by having recently developed and been diagnosed with Diabetes and one of the best things I know of is to find insiration that takes me back to my craft room. In that endeavor I went to the tried and true project I favor - Operation Write Home's Stars & Stripes Challenge.  This week I went with the Sketch challenge - S&S Sketch Challenge #57 - that is simple enough, look at the sketch and create whatever my mind finds in my craft room. For some reason I seem to be in a Pink season, so this card came out pink. The card base is A.C Textured cardstock. The solid pink is Bazzill - basic cardstock. The pink paper is Girl Birthday collection - Blossom Stripe by ADORNit and the stamped sentiment is from JustRight Stamps. I used Spellbinders to cut the standard circles as well as the eyelet circle. Of course this card gets added to my box of cards I am putting together to ship to OWH. Here is the sketch that was provide

Finally Got Back in My Craft Room!

Image
Well, after a somewhat long hiatus from crafting, I finally got back in my craft room. I just simply did not have energy or will to do anything for a few months and on Jan. 17, 2011 I was diagnosed with Diabetes. I have since been on insulin injections & pills and I have modified my diet, started exercising 4 times a week and after a month of working towards feeling better I actually had enough energy this week to make some cards for some challenges on CardMaker Card Swap. Sadly, being half out of the loop and really concentrating my energy on just getting the cards made I failed to list my components as I went along. But I am still going to post the pictures of the cards I mad this past week. Up first is a card for "Beat The Blues Crop; Wednesday Challenge: Sending you Sunshine" - make a monochromatic card in YELLOW... My entry: Next up is " Beat The Blues Crop; Wednesday Challenge: A Master Plan " - Create a card using the following items: 3 patterned pape
