Sweet Sixteen for Sabrina
My oldest granddaughter will be sixteen tomorrow and we have been working for the last few days to finish up work on her party invitations. Since her mom is taking her on a cruise (departing New Years Day) they have opted to have her party the middle of January, so we are not horribly late on finishing & getting them in the mail.
This has been a laborious and tedious task, but I can't complain since it is for my granddaughter and she helped with a lot of it (last night we recruited her mom to help with a final surge trying to get all the pieces glued & glittered. And, since her party will be at a State Park that charges and admission, her mom was suppose to buy a quantity of the little red ticket for each person to gain access (the little tickets that are used for door prize drawings at a lot of events). However, she asked them about us making tickets that fit the party theme and the State Park agreed, so we had to make tickets to go with the invites.
Here is what we made - Her party theme will be A Winter Wonderland so we made a Winter Wonderland snow-globe. The design was inspired by this Tutorial on Splitcoaststampers website:
This image shows one invite closed beside one invite open and at the base of the easel would be one admission ticket front and another displaying the back.
Here is a close up of the admissions tickets (sorry, blurred some of the information for privacy reasons)
Here is a solo appearance of the invite. Cute, or at least I think it is.
There are so many individual components to this. I'm sure we could have made this a simpler process, but I couldn't figure it out and it's too late now - lol. I used the 3.75 Spellbinders Round to cut out 40 circles each of the background paper, Classic Snowflakes - Blue by the Paper Studio, 40 of clear circles from 3M Transparency Film for Overheads, 40 circles of plain white cardstock (these I cut the cardstock into 4" x 4.5" pieces and folded the .5 over before running it through the Cuttlebug being sure the fold was inside the circle to create the fold for the top of the card) and 40 plain white circles used to cut out he ground under the igloo and animals and the snow caps attached to the front top of each snow-globe.
The uber cute animals are "critters in the snow" from Lawn Fawn. All were colored with Copic and we then sprayed the igloos with Glimmer Mist in pearl and flocked the polar bears with Inkadoo flock in Linen White. The ground on the inside and the snow-cap on the outside are covered in basic white glitter from Jo-Ann's.
The wooden base is made with Wooden Fence paper by the Paper Studio. The blue ribbon is from Ribbon Trends and the snowflake sequins are from Tree House Studios. I can't say who makes the pink crystal in the center of the snowflakes since we threw away the top when we cut open the package.
And the final step was to stamp snowflakes on the inside of the globe using Lawn Fawn "frosties" stamps and Color Box Fluid Chalk in the color Popcorn.
The admissions tickets are made with generic white & blue cardstock & stamped with the same two sets of Lawn Fawn stamps and lettering using Lawn Fawn "jessie's abcs".
Quick recap - 40 circles of snow, plain, acetate and folded plain; 40 flocked polar bears, 40 igloos, 80 penguins (40 on the invites and 40 on the admissions tickets), 40 admission ticket fronts, 40 admission ticket backs, 40 bases - front, 40 bases - back, 40 glittered ground, 40 glittered snow-caps, 40 3-part snowflake sequin decorations . . . yep, that was a whole lotta pieces and parts spread out all over my craft room for a while there.
Well, there you have it, this project, as well as the Christmas holidays and me being sick for a while is what took up the last month of free time for me (well, I will confess to having read a couple of books in the comfort of my recliner)! Hope everyone had a Very Merry Christmas!
These are absolutely adorable! Sabrina is so lucky to have such a creative Gram. :) TFS!
